Encouraging the Art and Craft of Communication Design

The Graphic Communications Scholarship, Award and Career Advancement Foundation (GCSF), founded in 2003, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation supported by the publishing, advertising, graphics and design businesses in the New York City Metropolitan Area, the world center of communications media.

We provide money for college scholarships, opportunities for industry exposure and career exploration, and mentoring support to young people building careers in our field. From a handful of students at our inception near the turn of the century to dozens of successful scholars each new school year, GCSF has provided a nurturing environment for hundreds of talented individuals charting their paths in diverse graphics disciplines like advertising, design, the Internet, interactive media, printing, publishing, packaging, photography, illustration, video and other graphic communications-related careers.

College Tuition

We provide money for graduating high school seniors entering college for the first time, current college students pursuing graphics degrees, and graduate students pursuing Masters-level and above.

Industry practitioners are matched with scholarship recipients for regular one-on-one mentoring sessions to connect college learning with real world experiences.

Industry Exposure

Our industry outreach programs introduce students to the many sides of the communications industry: designers, producers, vendors, analysts, both for-profit and non-profit.

Educational Outreach

GCSF supports program in K-12 graphics education as well as post-secondary institutions that bring industry perspectives to schools at all levels.

The GCSF community regularly comes together in professional development lectures, workshops and awards celebrations to establish connections and camaraderie across generations.
